The Traffic screen replaces the "Maintain Top of Hour" box found on the Library screen, in previous versions of Robot. The traffic screen is concerned specifically with scheduling, maintaining and viewing to the hour advertising. It makes it easy to see across a week what spots are scheduled in what hours, what order they will be played in throughout the hour.
PREPARING THE SCREEN FOR FIRST USE The traffic screen provides the ability to estimate the approximate number of AD positions in an hour. This means that if you use a short looping format (e.g. SONG, SONG,SONG,AD,AD etc.) to automatically fill each hour (rather than approximately plotting out the format to precisely to fill each hour in a set way) Robot can make an estimate of the total number of AD spots available in each hour. If the short format loop above repeats, for example, 4 times in an hour to fill the total hour then the total number of available AD spots for the hour would be 2 spots X 4 = 8 possible advertising spots. Although if you plotted out an entire hour format and it looped only once the estimate would be, for example 8 spots X 1 loop of the format.
To make these estimates Robot needs to know the average length (in seconds) of the various audio items in your format. These do not have to be precise for every song or advert, just a rough idea of what you use in your format--the calculation is only a "best guest" of the number of available spots anyway, as it depends on a wide range of factors worked out as Robot runs. You set the averages in seconds using the drop downs on the format screen:
